Meet the team / Rob Liney

I have been promoting and supporting special needs for over forty years, beginning in Birmingham working as a Residential Social Worker before moving to Warwickshire to work as a class teacher in a special school supporting pupils with learning difficulties, behaviour difficulties and Autism before moving to its Support Service. I managed the service for 16 years, working in primary and secondary schools to support and advise SENDCos, assess pupils’ learning needs,  provide assessments for access arrangements and support EHCPs. I set up and worked in a school unit at Brooklands NHS Hospital (Solihull), which provides specialist 24hr care for students 11 to 19 yrs, with exceptional mental health, learning and behaviour needs and also have 4 year’s experience in school as SENDCo. 

Over my career I have amassed knowledge on many areas of special needs but supporting the identification of targets for learning is my primary focus. 

Qualifications: Cert Ed (Birmingham). Bachelor of Philosophy (hons) (Warwick) in Special education, Post 16 education, Sociology, Educational management. Honorary Degree for services to Education (Worcester). Cert Ed in Science (University of Central England).
