Louise Wood

I have been a teacher for 18 years, initially in Primary Schools and since 2001 as a Specialist Teacher working with pupils with Communication and Interaction difficulties, across both Primary and Secondary schools.

Between 2012 and 2017 I was a Lead Consultant Teacher for the Specific Language Disorder Team, part of Warwickshire’s Integrated Disability Service.

I have supervised  dissertations for 3rd year degree students at the University of Warwick on the Childhood, Education and Society course.

I am interested in the effect that speech and language difficulties can have on self-esteem and wellbeing, and the importance of making sure that professionals and parents/carers have an awareness of this.

I am passionate about the use of visual materials  to support understanding and learning in all school environments.
